This week was long! I enjoyed the content that we were studying this week both in our weekly study and in the book Mastery. I was also in a car accident, that wasn't my fault, and had weather issues cause a power outage that left me without internet. Somehow, even with all of this, I spent so much of my time thinking about being an entrepreneur. I learned, as I read in the book Mastery, that I have a natural tendency to be a 'dabbler'. I love to think of ideas and to get them started. I love the initial excitement, but there are times that I struggle with the execution, or staying motivated and invested. I did see though, that with the small business that I acquired and have been running this year, that I am overcoming that tendency to some degree. I find that I love every aspect of running this business once I get past the intimidation of never having done it before. I love to figure out and pay my taxes, I am learning to track my finances and miles and I love organizing and ordering inventory. I even made strides this week in sales which is my least favorite part! This week in part of our readings I read about the value of learning to be a competent salesperson. After reading that, I had an idea to grow my tiny business. After doing a little market research I sat down with a potential client and pitched my idea. It went well. I am hopeful that I will be able to achieve significant growth both because of my sales pitch and because of the boost in my confidence at seeing that the idea was appreciated and even desired by my target audience. I have loved taking classes that are teaching me the importance of different aspects of running a business while simultaneously running a small business. I am able to more clearly see how the principles apply, to implement them, and see them in action.
